I decided to hunt close to home on this morning so I could be at work earlier and I’m glad I did. I made it to the treestand by 6:30 and had a short wait for light. The first deer I seen was a spike buck cruising the woods, then I sat for another half hour and started to get a chill so I stood up to get my blood flowing and as I did I looked 50 yards straight ahead and here came a doe on a steady trot right at me. I had to think fast and grabed my bow and pulled back as the doe came to within 5 yds of the tree I was in. I put my 20 yd pin low on her vitals, gave a short grunt to stop her and when she did I smacked an arrow through the sweet spot! WHACK! As she ran off I seen that my shot couldn’t have been better, she ran 50yds and piled up. I want to thank Eric for helping me retrieve my doe and to Bonehead for a great hunting spot! With this doe down I earned my city buck tag. Stay tuned for that picture and story when I arrow him!!
