I was with my niece Jennie who was 12 at the time and was the first time hunting this spot, first time on lease and we decided to hunt along the break, which was the only hardwoods and a little foodplot which was produce very much and the rest was all pines. It was opening day of muzzleloader and i had to put up two treestands. So we got into treestands about 8am and in about 20 minutes I caught a glance of something coming from the 4 wheeler trail and pines. Looking into the sun I couldnt see how big it was, which we had an 8pt or better  limit, so I shot and it went 30yds off the break and it was this 210 lb. 8 pointer with one of his brow tines broke off and he was 18 1/2 inches wide.

After watching this buck  chase a doe into a slew and didnt see the pair exit, we assumed the pair bedded down in the rushes. I set up north of the slew and had my sister walk in from the south. She kicked up a small buck with this monster 4 by 5 witha doe he chased in. He exited towards me and stopped 80 yards away where I dropped him. Check out those brow tines!

  I was hunting the youth season in Missouri this year with my dad at his hunting camp” The State Line Bone Mine”. He had time away from clients to take me which I always enjoy. We got set up in a double bull blind early that morning and waited. Two does came through at about 8:15am and I decided to pass and wait for a buck with it being the first day. At about 8:30 dad spotted a nice 8 pt heading our way. The buck cut the track of the earlier does and fortunately for us he back trailed them right to our blind. I shot the buck at 23 yds with my .270 and it didnt go far. It is my 4th buck and my best one.

 This buck came straight to me although I could’nt see him due to a tree being in front of my tree stand . It was 6 days into the season, I had sat there all day waiting patiently. Where I hunt there are oil wells, so I had parked my chevy pickup about 150 yds from my stand,  just as it approached 5:30pm I caught a glimps of an antler, when I raised my 7mg. and found him in the crosshairs I began to squeeze the trigger just as I caught ANOTHER glimps, this time it was my chevy pickup ! I  was thinking move up just a little….a little more …..come on……as I just knew the buck could hear my heart beating ….all the time I was trying to be quiet as a mouse…. steadidly holding my rifle on him. he seemed to be crawling by now…I thought it will be past time to shoot him if he keeps this pace knowing in my head I had plenty of time, finally he got past my pickup and the big moment was upon me again,I squeezed the trigger and and he hit the dirt. I was one happy hunter!  My exbrother inlaw and his friend were hunting across the road on another lease and he called and asked me if I got him, when I told him of course , they hurried to see what I had harvested,I had already drove my pickup to my buck. and I had been checking out a rub near by, when I turned to go back to my pickup when they got there to help me load my buck,  they were laughing. I was puzzled and I asked what is so funny the ex brother in law said I thought you had gone to look for the deer and I ran over your buck !! I told him after all I went through, you better not have broke his rack!!!!!!!..  as it turns he didnt he run up on his gut thank goodness…..it was an awesome hunt….

I shot this with my new 20 gauge at 30 yds.  My then boyfriend,  now husband, called two big gobblers across a field right to us and he told me to shoot the one on the left, so I did.  Well that one piled up and the other I watched  run away with two beards flopping as he ran. None the less I am very happy with my first Turkey.
