I had this buck show up on camera 2 weeks previous to bow opener. I targeted this deer as one of the top three to harvest this year with a bow. He showed up on the 17th of Sept. around 7PM. He started to fight with a medium size 8 pointer and I decided to take him at that time. While he was fighting, I had no shot, so I had to sit down on the ladder of my stand to get a shot. I ranged him at 27 yrds. broadside shot, and I let the arrow loose. He hunched up and ran back into the thicket. It kind of stinks that I filled my buck tag right away, but he is an awesome buck. He weighed 247 lbs field dressed.

There was a cold front coming in tonight, so I had to get out in the tree. I still needed my first doe, in order to get my city buck tag. The pressure was on as most of the MMK boys have already tagged their first doe. I saw nothing all night until she walked up at 15yds. I let the arrow loose, and smack! A double lung pass through. Jason Loose helped me track her down and drag her out. Buck tag is on it’s way!

I had wanted to get out on opening day of the city hunt on Sept 10 but it was three days later when I finally got around to hunting. Good friend Ernie West an I set out on this night on a mission to arrow a doe and get it on film. After watching this doe an yearlings for an hour, she walked out in front of me at 35 yards an I made a perfect broadside shot on her. She went 50 yards an fell. Moments after my shot another doe spooked towards us an Ernis made a 15 yard heart shot on her. We both earned city buck tags by filling our doe tags. Looking for the Monsters now!
