I was with my niece Jennie who was 12 at the time and was the first time hunting this spot, first time on lease and we decided to hunt along the break, which was the only hardwoods and a little foodplot which was produce very much and the rest was all pines. It was opening day of muzzleloader and i had to put up two treestands. So we got into treestands about 8am and in about 20 minutes I caught a glance of something coming from the 4 wheeler trail and pines. Looking into the sun I couldnt see how big it was, which we had an 8pt or better  limit, so I shot and it went 30yds off the break and it was this 210 lb. 8 pointer with one of his brow tines broke off and he was 18 1/2 inches wide.

I went to the mountain to try and fill a doe tag or 4 that I had left for our muzzle loader season in Unit A. In Unit L where I live it is 3 does a doe for the entire season but in A it is 9 total. The place I hunt is covered in does and the landowners want some thinned out. I got on stand in the morning but all the deer were in a field with just enough limbs in the way that I didn’t have a shot. That afternoon I found a good spot where I could ground hunt and got set up around 2:00 pm. At 2:48 I heard the first shot and listened to others shoot around me until I finally saw the first doe at about 3:45. I watched her feed toward me and had a spot picked where I wanted to take my shot but she turned about 100 yards away and went into an overgrown field. Less than a minute later I saw another one coming down the same trail. She turned to take the same trail giving me a broadside shot. I hit her with a perfect double lung with my .45, she ran about 30 yards and dropped. I took her to a needy family that lives down the road from me to help fill their freezer.

Saw this deer early in archery season. Rattled him in, but could not get a shot. Hunted him hard through muzzleloader in drenching rains. Had him broadside at 30 yards and muzzleloader didn’t fire - powder got wet! Continued to put in time and hunted him by tracking the late season does. Finally got him in rifle.

This was from the week before I took my 6 pt. Same tree and the second afternoon I had hunted there. Because of the canopy I am only about 8 feet off the ground but several yards back in the woods. The deer all enter the field at the same spot about 70 yards east of me then turn west to walk the field edge. This puts them right in front of me at anywhere from 10 to 40 yards. This cull buck came out and gave me a decent shot. Sorry I didn’t get the shot on camera.

I had gotten permission to hunt 600 acres only 4 minutes from my house. I have been hunting 150 acre parcel but took time to go scout the rest. I found a spot that has everything you want to hunt and decided to go set up there. The first time in I jumped a 6 pt at 3:30 pm. I got lanes cut, climbed in and saw the 6 and a small 4 come out later. The next day i shot a cull buck there. It took till mid week for me to get back to try it again. When I got in my stand I had guys driving the fence row about 100 yards away checking for trespassers and I started to leave. Instead I stayed in the stand and saw the 6 and 4 come back out. They fed to me and stopped at 35 yards. I got drawn and shot only to have some Johnson grass knock my arrow down. The buck ran into the field then turned to come back to see what the noise was. He circled the spot then stepped through the treeline stopping broadside at 16 yards. as soon as he did I drew and hit him in the shoulder with a Grim Reaper. He ran about forty yards and dropped. While I have taken a lot of deer this was my first 6 pt and he has a perfectly matched rack. Good times.

This was an interesting day, I heard alot of commotion in my back yard neighbors
dogs going crazy,  so I grabbed my Matthews Q2 tipped with Rage 2 blades went to the
back door expecting to see a raccoon or possum causing them to get upset. It was
almost to the point of no shooting light but I went outside and hit back yard only
to see nothing, but neighbors shed and on other side is where the dogs were going
crazy so I thought maybe they were just establishing dominance between themselves.
So I started to turn but then I heard something so turned just in time to see this
big boy poke his head out and start to walk my way. So I drew back at 15 yards and
zip , pop.  Through the front left shoulder with him looking at me and out the right
side as you can see.  He flipped back from the shot and much to my surprise he got
back up and quartering toward me he started to turn so i released another rage broad
head into him this caught his lip and through the neck and out the other side. This
time he rolled backwards about 3 feet. Stood up again and fell on his face. This was
one strong boy, but thankfully this guy is no longer terrorizing the cows and
neighbors dogs.

This is the opportunity I have waited for all year.  I was scouting a new spot not
really even trying to hunt just wanted to find a new spot, I was walking open field
right next to wood line.  I was making mouth calls of buck and running doe just to
cover my sound of crunching leaves.  I heard what I thought was a big Fox Squirell
running as I saw before.  Then a flash of white and a rack smacking the trees coming
my way.  I knelt down in the field it was moving right in the way I just came from
but fortunately he walked right in front of me passed a down tree and stepped in at
less than 10 yards, I was already ready I made a bawl at him he stopped and I let
him have it.  I can not tell you how happy I was to get this deer in my home state of
Tennessee.
